On 07.02.2020, in the Exposition Center “Flora” Burgas, Via Pontica Foundation together with the Municipality of Burgas and RIEW Burgas opened Days of Wetlands 2020. As a full member of Wetlands International and in coordination with the Ramsar Convention, on the occasion February 2 – World Wetlands Day, the Foundation organizes an annual campaign to raise awareness of the importance of wetland biodiversity. The theme for 2020 is “Wetlands and Biodiversity”.
This initiative quite successfully complements the activities envisaged under another project of the Foundation related to “Innovative Techniques and Methods for Reducing Marine Litter in the Black Sea Coastal Areas”. The RedMarLitter BSB 552 project is implemented under priority 2.2. “Awareness Raising and Joint Actions to Reduce River and Marine Llitter” of the joint operational program “Black Sea Basin 2014-2020”.
As a team, we appreciate the opportunity to approach the problem of pollution of water bodies from different perspectives and we are happy to be part of its minimization and solution. With the complementary initiatives we take, we manage to build a comprehensive approach and reach a much wider audience in our mission for a cleaner Black Sea.
