Ana Yancheva, project coordinator of the RedMarLitter BSB552 – “Innovative techniques and methods for reducing marine litter in the coastal areas of the Black Sea” attended a working meeting of colleagues from the Black Sea NGO Network under the project MARLITER BSB138 “Improved online public access to environmental monitoring data and data tools for the Black Sea Basin supporting cooperation in the reduction of marine litter”.
The event was held on March 28-01, 2019 in Varna, Golden Tulip Hotel. The topic “Improving access to environmental information about the Black Sea – responsibility, knowledge and cooperation” engages experts at the institutional level – Basin Directorate “Black Sea Region”, Institute of Oceanology at BAS, RHI Dobrich, State Enterprise “Port Infrastructure”, representatives of various non-governmental organizations, as well as the general public.
The meeting aimed to assist the project team in creating an interactive map of the Black Sea, a tool with public access and interactive components with several public functions – information, management and education. The participants in the meeting were invited as future users to share a feedback on what information would be useful and how to make it more accessible.
We, at the Via Pontica Foundation, thank you for the invitation and participation of the experts of the Black Sea NGO Network in our workshops. Due to the similar themes of the projects, we believe that it is extremely important for the exchange of information, contacts and knowledge between the various organizations working on this difficult issue to be continuous.
